About IEEE LINK

LINK (Local Integrated Network of Kerala IEEE Student ranches) was born in 2003. LINK was formally inaugurated by IEEE President Mr. Cleon Anderson in January 2005.The concept of LINK was the synergy of ideas between Mr.S Gopakumar, the Student Activities Chair of Kerala section and Mr.Prijoe PhilipsKomattu,the then Kerala Section Student representative. The name LINK was coined by Prijoe Philips.  LINK becamethe first ever successful network among student branches in the history of IEEE and went on to attain international glory. Today LINK serves as a platform for students to interact and unify, and has generated several productive programs. The five-fold increase in the student membership of IEEE Kerala Section in a span of 5 years, speak volumes of the success of LINK. Success of LINK prompted R10 to introduce GINI (Global Integrated Network of IEEE) - an adaptation of LINK for R10 student branches College of Engineering, Chengannur played a pioneering role in setting up LINK along with Fahad Ali of Model Engineering College, and Visan Varghese Koshy of FISAT (Federal Institute of Science and Technology). With the growth of LINK, Hubs consisting of 2 or 3 districts were introduced in the LINK structure in 2007 - an idea of Mr.S Gopakumar.
